Vehicle calculators
Loans, fuel, running costs, tyres and more. Every result is an estimate from the numbers you enter.
Purchase & Finance 12
- Loan / EMIReducing-balance EMI with a 12-month amortisation schedule.
- Bike Loan EMIEMI on a two-wheeler loan, from price and money down.
- Car Loan EMIEMI on a car loan, from price and money down.
- Down PaymentSplit a price into deposit and financed amount.
- Loan AffordabilityLargest loan supportable at a given debt-to-income ratio.
- On-Road PriceEverything paid before driving away.
- Finance vs CashFinancing against paying outright, including the opportunity cost of the capital a cash purchase consumes.
- New vs UsedTotal outlay on a new versus a used vehicle over a holding period.
- Lease vs BuyLease cost against buy cost over the same term. Buying nets off resale value; leasing does not.
- DepreciationDeclining-balance depreciation with a per-year breakdown.
- Resale ValueProjected value after N years of depreciation.
- Depreciation ScheduleYear-by-year value from purchase onward, including year 0.
Fuel & Trip 11
- Fuel CostFuel needed and spent over a distance, with optional monthly/annual projections for a daily commute.
- Fuel RequiredLitres needed to cover a distance.
- MileageObserved mileage from a real tank — what you compute after a trip, rather than predict before one.
- Cost Per KmUnit running cost over a distance.
- Annual Fuel CostA year's fuel spend at a given annual mileage.
- Trip CostTotal cost of one journey — fuel plus the things people forget.
- Multi-Stop TripTrip cost across a list of leg distances, with a per-leg breakdown.
- Carpool SplitSplit a trip cost between the people in the car.
- Fuel Type ComparisonCompare several fuel options over the same distance.
- Petrol vs DieselHead-to-head running cost over the same distance.
- Car vs BikeAnnual fuel cost of running a car versus a two-wheeler.
Electric Vehicles 10
- EV Charging CostCost to charge a battery, accounting for charging losses — you pay for what the meter sees, not what the battery keeps.
- EV RangeDistance on a charge. Usable capacity is smaller than the badge figure because manufacturers reserve a buffer.
- EV Trip CostEnergy and cost for one EV journey.
- EV vs PetrolEV running cost against petrol over the same distance.
- EV vs DieselEV running cost against diesel over the same distance.
- Home ChargingCost of charging at home for a given amount of delivered energy.
- Charging TimeHours to charge between two states of charge. Optimistic for a charge to full, since real charging tapers above ~80%.
- Battery DegradationRemaining pack capacity after N years of use.
- EV Break-EvenYears for an EV's cheaper running to repay its higher purchase price.
- EV Running CostAnnual energy and cost at a given yearly mileage.
Maintenance & Service 6
- Service CostTotal for one workshop visit.
- Oil ChangeCost of an oil change, parts and labour.
- Tyre ReplacementCost to replace a set of tyres, including fitting.
- Tyre LifeExtrapolate total tyre life from tread worn so far. Assumes linear wear, which is optimistic near the end.
- Maintenance Per KmMaintenance spend per kilometre — the figure that reveals a money pit.
- Repair vs ReplaceWhether to fix a vehicle or replace it. Reports the figures and leaves the judgement to you.
Tyres 4
- Tyre SizeReal dimensions from a printed tyre size, e.g. 205/55 R16. The aspect ratio is a percentage of the width, not a length.
- Tyre Size ComparisonTwo tyre sizes side by side. Beyond ~3% diameter difference the speedometer reads wrong and ABS can misbehave.
- Speedometer ErrorError introduced by changing tyre diameter. A larger tyre covers more ground per revolution, so the dial under-reads.
- Pressure ConversionConvert tyre pressure between psi, bar and kPa. Returns all three, since placards and gauges often disagree on units.
Ownership & Running Cost 6
- Total Cost of OwnershipWhat a vehicle really costs over the time you hold it — purchase plus running costs, minus resale.
- Annual Ownership CostEverything a vehicle costs in a year, itemised and totalled.
- Monthly Ownership CostThe same figures per month, which is how people budget.
- Annual Operating CostAnnual running cost, deriving the fuel component from mileage.
- True Cost Per KmCost per kilometre counting depreciation, not just fuel.
- Car BudgetA defensible vehicle budget from disposable income, not gross — which is how people end up over-committed.
